Access
The Shinpi Trail is a long trail of approximately 117 km that connects Matsumoto Castle Taikomon Gate in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and Miyamae Bridge in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture. We will introduce the starting and ending points (terminus) and access information for each section.

Walk
There are also ways to access the Shinpi Trail using highways and traverse routes. For example, you can walk from Nakasendo to Zenkoji Kaido to Matsumoto, then take the Hida Kaido to Takayama, or traverse the Northern Alps via Mt. Yari and Tokumoto Pass.
By taxi
We recommend making a reservation in advance for travel to mountainous areas. Jumbo taxis may be available depending on the number of people.
Matsumoto area (Shinshimashima and Sawando area)
It is convenient for accessing Kamikochi and trailheads (such as the Tokumoto Pass entrance). Recommended for those who cannot use public transportation at the scheduled time or who want to avoid crowds.

Private car restrictions are in place in the Kamikochi area all year round. In addition, Kamikochi is closed during the winter (mid-November to mid-April) and buses do not operate. For details,Kamikochi Official Website.
