A path that connects people, not a mountain wall

The Shinpi Trail is a community development project that connects the wonderful nature, history, culture and lifestyles of Matsumoto and Takayama to the future through walking trails.

Since ancient times, the mountain passes connecting Shinshu and Hida have crossed the towering Northern Alps and played an important role in the lives, culture and faith of the local people. However, with the development of tunnels and a car-oriented society, walking paths have declined, and the once bustling mountain villages along the passes have become quieter, with an aging and declining population.

Furthermore, with the exception of a few areas such as Kamikochi where tourists are concentrated, the length of stay is short, and the benefits to the local economy are not fully distributed. In light of this, we are creating the Shinpiji Trail to rediscover the value of local resources through scenery and encounters that can only be seen at walking speed, and to reconsider the shape of a future where people and nature can live together in abundance.

Currently, the Shinpi Trail is carrying out the following activities:

Cooperation in trail development and maintenance activities

Trail development and maintenance activities (funding and manpower) in cooperation with each trail manager

Community Management

We will manage a community of people who support the Shinpi Trail project, support trail maintenance and local activities, and work together to promote Shinpi's project.

Creation and implementation of guided tours

We plan and operate tours that provide moving experiences that convey the essential value of the region and are part of responsible tourism.

Promotional Activities

Spreading the Shinpiji Trail project throughout the region, introducing business activities, disseminating information through social media and websites to attract target users, and publishing a newsletter.

Human Resource Development

Establishment of a local guide system, risk management training, and creation of nature education programs for elementary and junior high school students.
