This is a 2-day or 3-day mountain hike from Matsumoto, the gateway to Kamikochi, through Shimashima and Tokugo Pass to Kamikochi. The course starts from Matsumoto Castle. After hikingup to the Alps Park and enjoying the view of the Northern Alps, you head to the Shimashima Valley and follow the old Kamikochi route. Passing through Iwanadome Hut, you reach Tokugo Pass. The path that crosses the pass having inspired travellers, and that leads to Kamikochi and Myojin is an ancient trail where the histories of literature, hiking, and daily life intersect. Here is a "walking journey" that transcends time, beginning beneath your feet.
